About the grant

Offering $40 million in grants to businesses and community groups, the Energy Efficient Communities Program provides funding to improve energy efficiency and reduce energy costs.
The program is supporting organisations to save energy through:
  • equipment upgrades to reduce energy consumption
  • investment in monitoring systems to better manage energy use
  • energy audits or energy efficiency investment feasibility studies

Applications to support small businesses in lowering their energy costs are open now. The grants are being distributed across federal electoral divisions and are allocated on a first come first served basis. Interest in the program is expected to be high, so businesses should act quickly to take advantage of the opportunity.

How much money is available?

Grants of up to $20,000 are available, with no co-contribution required. The minimum grant amount is $5,000. Eligible businesses can only apply for one Energy Efficient Communities Program: Business Stream grant, though this grant can be split across multiple sites.

Who is eligible?

Small businesses with annual turnovers of less than $10 Million are eligible for the Energy Efficient Communities Program: Business Stream grant. The grant is available for Australian companies, co-operatives, partnerships and sole traders.
